Workshop Overview
Students enter the world of a professional jazz musician through this intensive, 2 1/2-hour workshop where they will rehearse and record jazzy renditions of several Disney songs under the direction of a Disney teaching artist.Performers master specific techniques to maximize rehearsal time and execute a stellar performance as they:
- Sight-read Disney music arrangements ranging from Grades 1.5 to 4
- Learn how critical timing is to all styles of jazz
- Perfect attacks and releases using a jazz vocabulary
- Fine-tune improvisation skills with proven tips and techniques
- Discover the differences between swing, Latin and rock styles
- Become more familiar with the blues, pentatonic scales and standard progressions
- Discuss the requirements of a studio recording environment and what is expected of performers
Chairs, stands, amps, a piano and all large instruments are provided. Music is scored for a standard jazz ensemble. Your Disney teaching artist will select music appropriate for your group's grade level in order to achieve musical success within a short rehearsal period.

Submit your completed Disney Performing Arts Application to us at least 8 weeks before the requested date of your event. (Application materials can be accepted up to one year in advance.)
