Workshop Overview

Your group will participate in a simulated production performance complete with a variety of equipment and props. But first, students undergo a high-energy warm-up and learn valuable flag and movement basics before launching into a mock Disney audition to learn tips to improve their chances of success. The workshop culminates in an exhilarating performance of a Disney-style production number, incorporating everything the students have learned.

During this intensive, 2 1/2-hour workshop led by a Disney teaching artist active in the color guard movement, students will:

  • Demonstrate correct body alignment and use of auxiliary equipment—emphasizing safety practices
  • Master nationally recognized movement and equipment basics
  • Learn routines that incorporate tall flags, swing flags, props and movement
  • Develop strength, flexibility and coordination in the performance of technical movements
  • Discover how versatility on several pieces of equipment can open doors to new opportunities

Choreography may be adjusted to your group's ability level to ensure final performance success. All auxiliary and color guard equipment will be provided. Students should wear clothing and shoes appropriate for a color guard rehearsal, such as dance or athletic shoes. Please do not arrive in sandals or bare feet.
