Key Learning Points

Students become marine conservationists and are faced with various challenges during a variety of activities. Throughout this program student learn about the difficulties marine animals face in the wild and ways they can help protect our oceans and marine life.

Sea Turtle Survival
Through participation in a role-playing activity, students become sea turtles or predators. Students also discover some of the challenges sea turtles are faced with during their lifetime.

Build a T.E.D.
Students learn the principles of by-catch and seafood sustainability by becoming fishermen. As fishermen, they will design their own turtle excluder device (T.E.D.) and come to understand the important impact that humans have on our oceans.

Animal Identification
Learn the difference between looking and observing by participating in a group activity where they must correctly identify a variety of fish species by observing animals in our 5.7 million gallon aquarium. Students will also use their observational skills on the attraction, The Seas with Nemo & Friends to correctly identify predators and prey found on their journey across the East Australian Current.
