This program gives students an inside look at Disney California Adventure® Park. Learn how things like kinetic energy and speed are used to create mind-blowing attractions. Students get an understanding of the real-world application of physics in a Theme Park setting.

Description

Through this program, students gain an understanding of the real-world application of physics in a Theme Park setting. Students identify and define potential energy, kinetic energy, speed, velocity and acceleration. They also have the opportunity to make observations and hypotheses, experiment and come to a conclusion by exploring select Disney's California Adventure® Park attractions. *Please note if your group is on a Disney Youth Education Series experience only ticket, your meeting location may vary and will be confirmed prior to your group's arrival to the Disneyland® Resort.

Students get at inside look at physics while they explore Disney's California Adventure® Park. They will learn how to:
  • Apply a problem-solving technique to everyday situations.
  • Identify, define and illustrate potential and kinetic energy.
  • Identify, define and discuss speed, velocity and acceleration.
  • Discuss and illustrate inertia.
  • Discuss and illustrate horizontal forces.
  • State and illustrate The Law of Conservation of Energy.
  • Articulate various forms of energy.
  • State and illustrate Newton's First and Third Laws of Motion.
  • Articulate various careers associated with the study of physics.
  • Discuss the precise terminology of physics.
  • Discuss factors that may influence the roller coaster design process.
  • Discuss the utilization of pneumatics and magnets as compared to traditional roller coaster lift systems.
Additional Information

Students who are not traveling with a group but would like to enroll in this Disney Youth Education Series program can do so during any date specified below.

A minimum number of participants must be reached for each program to be activated. Purchase of a ticket does not ensure program activation. You will be contacted if the minimum is not reached for your selected program. All children 12 and under must have a responsible adult on the program with them. Children 13 and older who will not have a parent or responsible adult with them MUST have a parent/guardian accompany them to the start of the program and sign a waiver in case of emergency and the parent/guardian must be present in the same park as the program their child is participating in case of an emergency.
